I’ve been seriously fighting the mid-winter blues lately. More than once I’ve caught myself browsing for swimsuits online. Whatever it takes to get through this crazy cold winter we’re having, right? So let’s talk about what I’ve learned about swimsuit trends for 2019.
Great news for moms everywhere — one piece swimsuits will continue to be very popular this year. That’s something we can all be on board with. There are specific style elements to be on the lookout for regardless of your preference for a one or two piece suit.
Be on the lookout for retro styled swimsuits this season. Think high-waisted bottoms (a personal favorite), polka dots, and ruffles. I love that two piece swimsuits are offering more coverage yet they are not at all frumpy because the tops are typically more minimal to balance out the fuller coverage in the middle. Pro tip: to hide a bump or roll in the tummy region, choose a bottom with a pattern and avoid light, solid colors — they are unforgiving.
Bows, Ties, and Knots
Bows, ties, and knots will be popping this year. Look for swimsuits with one shoulder bows and ties that wrap around tops with a knot in front or across the tops of bottoms.
It’s all in the details! Belts are making their way onto swimsuits in a big way this year. They are great for drawing the eye toward the small of your waist.
Cut outs on one piece swimsuits are placed in clever places to reveal some skin without showing too much.
I’m super happy to see this trend in swimsuits for 2019 because there are finally going to be some attractive rash guard options for women. Look for one and two piece swimsuits that incorporate more coverage in a stylish way.
