These days having a good brow game is a must as the eyes are the only visible feature above face coverings. I’ve always been a believer that eyebrows frame your face an can make all the difference in your appearance. For most of us who grew up in the 80s/90s, however, years of over plucking to achieve the once-popular thin eyebrow has done its damage. We struggle to achieve the fuller brows we were born with. Luckily, there are a few essential products that can help you achieve the eyebrows of your youth and help you up your brow game.
:: Spool Eyebrow Brush
The spool eyebrow brush is an essential item to eyebrow grooming — period. It looks like a thin, straight mascara wand. It is used to brush your eyebrow hairs and “push” them in the shape you are trying to achieve.
:: Wax Pencil
A wax pencil is a great item to have on hand because as your eyebrow hairs grow the scraggly ones may not lie flat or grow in the direction you want them to lie. That was certainly a problem for me! I began using a wax pencil nightly to train my eyebrow hairs to lay in the right shape.
:: Eyebrow Powder
Brow pencils and/or powders are essential to have on hand because they help fill in sparse areas from over plucking. I prefer powder to the pencil because it is easy to apply and stays in place better. You can experiment with whatever “filler” works best for you. Fuller eyebrows are so universally in demand these days that every cosmetics line has an army of tools that can help you.
:: Microneedling Roller and Brow Growth Serum
A microneedling roller is like an aerator for your face. You may have had your lawn aerated before. You do that to allow air, water, and nutrients to penetrate the soil. In much the same way, microneedling your eyebrows allows the next essential ingredient, a brow growth serum, to better penetrate the hair follicles. After rolling my brows I apply a growth serum like neulash, lash boost, or Latisse nightly to the sparse areas where I want my brows to grow.
:: All In One
There’s a new product called Brow Boost by Rodan + Fields that achieves brow growth while simultaneously acting as a filler to cover sparse areas. I haven’t tried it yet myself but I’m all for any single product that makes things simple.
