Hey girlfriends, I’ve been hearing from a bunch of you that you are looking for ideas on what to wear to your summer wedding events. Before last year I hadn’t been to a wedding in a while. There was a time (much longer ago than I care to think) when we had multiple weddings to attend all summer long. Those occasions were gradually replaced with baby showers, and then tapered off to park playdates and toddler gym classes. Ah, the circle of life!
What NOT To Wear To A Wedding
Before moving on to what to wear, let’s discuss for a moment what NOT to wear to a wedding. While a lot of traditional fashion rules are outdated, one rule that still stands is that white is reserved for the bride alone. That includes showers, the rehearsal, and wedding related events. This is the bride’s day and she is the only one who gets to wear white!
Second, and I know you know this, but a wedding is not an occasion where it is appropriate to show too much skin. We are keeping it classy here girlfriends!
Bright Colors And Florals
So what should you wear to a summer wedding? For a summer wedding florals and bright colors (but not neon) are a great choice. Unless it’s a black tie wedding in the evening, save your LBD for a different season. Now is the time to wear color!
One way to add a little flair to your look without stealing any attention from the bride is to accessorize with statement jewelry. I’ve included some of my favorites in the widget below.
While I’m not attending any weddings anytime soon, a lot of these dress selections can be worn to other summer events. Pick something you will wear to a couple of occasions! The dress I’m wearing here I wore to the Best of Arlington party last week. Such a fun, local event if you live in Northern Virginia.
