In this transitional time of year when the mornings and evenings are cool but the days can still be warm, blanket scarves are a stylish way to add a layer of warmth. They also add a pop of color and interest to an otherwise boring tee shirt and jeans (which is pretty much my uniform). Blanket scarves are so popular these days you can find them in many beautiful patterns and colors, though plaid seems to be the most popular pattern in blanket scarves.
I’ve admired blanket scarves for a while but, to be honest, I didn’t want to deal with the fuss of learning how to wear one. I finally figured out that they are actually really easy and not fussy at all. If you’ve been wanting to try this look — read on — today I’m showing two EASY ways to wear a blanket scarf.
1. Tie One On
Learning to tie a blanket scarf is not nearly as tricky as it looks. It’s a simple four step process.
Step 1: Fold the scarf in half and make a large triangle.
Step 2: Hold the scarf so the top of the triangle is pointed toward your feet. Hold the ends in each hand.
Step 3: Bring the scarf to your chest and wrap the two ends behind your neck.
Step 4: Pull the ends down and tuck them under the triangle (or leave the ends loose if you prefer)
Yes, it’s that easy.
I wore mine with a drape front jacket but you can skip the jacket and wear it with a tee shirt and jeans (or leggings) if it’s a warmer day or with a sweater dress. Pair with tall boots or booties.
2. Drape It Like A Shawl
This is the easiest way to wear a blanket scarf because you actually wear it like a blanket (duh!) or a shawl. You can fold the scarf in half to make a triangle or leave it as a rectangle. With the ends in each hand pull them over your shoulders or around your arms.

I’ve linked a few of my favorite blanket scarves below. Give it a try and snap a picture if you do. I’d love to see how you wear yours.
