Jeans are such an important part of my wardrobe. Remember when they used to only come in various shades of blue? Well, obviously that’s not the case anymore. But I’m willing to bet the majority of us simply rotate between medium and dark rinses of blue jeans and maybe add in a pair of white denim for the summer. You know who you are.
Since I wear jeans almost daily I like to have a good variety to keep things interesting. It’s also one area where I’m willing to splurge on a more expensive brand because I know I will wear them for a while. Depending on the makeup of the fabric, denim can do a lot to keep everything tucked in and that’s truly the benefit of buying a good pair of jeans (even if it costs a small fortune). Because there are so many denim options available, I often hear that it is overwhelming to know what to buy. So today I’m breaking down the four pairs of jeans every woman should have in her closet.
Dark Wash Denim
I don’t think any woman’s closet could be without a solid pair of dark wash denim jeans. It’s a classic look and because they are a dark wash, they flatter just about every body type. Buy a pair with a mid-rise waist to keep everything high and tight. A pair with a lot of stretch will be super comfortable for just about anyone — from the mom on the playground to the office dweller. My favorite brands are DL1961 (higher price range) and BlankNYC if you are looking for a less expensive option. Hudson jeans are tried and true favorites for me. I can never go wrong with that brand.
Black Denim
I like black denim jeans as an alternative to basic black leggings which, like you, I would wear all. the. time. I’m trying to break out of the athleisure mindset so black jeans are my feeble attempt to wear black bottoms that are not leggings. I am wearing 7 For All Mankind B(air) skinny ankle jeans and they are honestly as comfortable as any pair of leggings I own. I think the distressing adds a little character too.
White Denim
I love my distressed white denim jeans. I wear them year round. It can be a little tricky to find a pair that is not see through but there are a lot of great options out there. I wear my distressed Hudson jeans at least once a week. Articles of Society makes another great pair that are worth trying.
The “Fun” Pair of Jeans
I think it’s important to have one pair (at least) of jeans in your closet that are “fun.” They can be coated, camo, embellished, distressed, or just an interesting color. Okay, yeah, I’ve got all of those. Have I mentioned you can never have too many pairs of jeans?
