One of the best sales of the year — the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale — is going on right now. This sale is all about BRAND NEW items on sale for the upcoming fall season. After the sale is over the items get restocked for fall and return to their normal prices. In past years I would have been in more of a shopping frenzy but coming off a year when all of my fall and winter clothes collected dust in my closet I’m feeling like I don’t need to shop as much. Though prices on some things are so good this is a great time to evaluate the holes in your closet and make strategic purchases to fill in gaps. I would also pick up a couple of on trend items knowing that this year you will have more of a social life. Also, if you are heading back to the office this fall it’s time to try on your pants/skirts/dresses and make sure all is well in the kingdom!
I perused the offerings this year and came up with my top picks for what to pick up at the sale. But first, there are some insider tricks to shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale so you can take advantage of the best deals.
- Become a Nordstrom Cardholder. I rarely advocate to sign up for credit card offers but this one is a must do to get early access to the sale. Early access for cardholders begins on Friday, July 16th. The best items tend to sell out before the general public gets access to the sale on July 28th.
- Shop Online. Truly the store is crazy during this sale so I prefer to shop online because Nordstrom has the best return policy ever and they offer free shipping and free returns. You can return items to the store at any time. Who doesn’t love shopping in their pajamas anyway?
- If Your Size Is Soldout, Buy Another Size. Pro tip: if your size sells out buy a different size, hold on to it, and wait for Nordstrom to restock it. Even if it’s long after the sale you can make an exchange for your correct size at the same price later. But if you wait to buy it after the sale you’ll pay full price.
