Face masks are the one accessory that is taking precedence over everything else. I rarely pop in to the news because I’m trying to avoid the cycle of despair but not too long ago I saw a headline that if we all wore face masks we could eliminate covid-19 in 4-6 weeks.
That’s the glimmer of hope I need.
One tried and true way to get myself to do more of something is to find a product I really like. This is akin to buying new workout clothes. When I have a fun new workout outfit it makes me want to workout more. So go on out and find a face mask you really love. Because we’ll be wearing them awhile. With that in mind, scroll down to find a few of my favorite face masks for moms and kids and a trick for getting a good-fit for in-betweens.
Mask Up, But Make It Fashion
If you are going to wear it on your face you might as well make it fashionable. This Etsy vendor repurposes purse dust bags into fashion-forward face masks. Likewise, Delray Monograms sells designer-inspired face masks using prints from Gucci, Luis Vuitton, Chanel and more.
Fun, Trendy, and Patriotic Styles For Adults
Undeniable Boutique is a local Virginia clothing store that happens to have a really fun selection of face masks. They have fashionable options using the popular and trendy Rolling Stones logo, tie dye, and patriotic designs like this one. All masks are $10.
Cute Designs For Kids
Luna Blu Mar offers three patterns for kids masks. This simple grey mask with white crosses is my favorite for simplicity. Finding a good fit for a kid-sized face is difficult but these fit my kids perfectly.
Face Mask Tips + Tricks For In-Betweens
A face mask can only do its job if it fits the face well which can be difficult when you are fitting teenagers or adults with smaller faces. I’m in this boat too. I already knew I had a small face because shopping for sunglasses is so difficult (most frames are too big for my face) but shopping for face masks confirmed it. Most adult size masks have loops that are too long and hence the mask does not fit my face well. One trick I’ve adopted is to twist the elastic one time before attaching it to my earlobes. Face masks with loose ties are also ideal because you can tie the top and bottom strings into a knot and tuck each side around your earlobes for a custom fit.
