Winter hats are often an afterthought usually thrown on just before heading outside. But during the winter they are my go-to for tossing on dirty hair, completing a simple outfit, or adding a bit of personality to what I’m wearing.
There are so many different styles you can choose: a classic pom hat like this one, a beanie, or a Bohemian style knit cap like this one. You don’t have to think of a winter hat exclusively as outer wear either. Often, when the weather is a bit warmer I’ll wear a hat with jeans and a sweater.
Sometimes my hat is the centerpiece of my outfit. A Bohemian style knit beanie or a bold patterned cap are standout pieces that add an interesting focal point to an otherwise simple outfit.
Even if wearing a winter hat without outerwear is outside your comfort zone, it is an essential element to keeping warm in the winter. And, if you will be outside for a while — along with your coat — it might be all that anyone sees and one of the few ways to add personality to your outfit when you’re all bundled up.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite winter hats in the widget below.

If you can help me find my long lost black beanie that was sold at Garnet Hill you’re the best-love the knit hats – are those sundance?
I’m not sure I can help with the lost beanie but I can help you find a new one! The beanie pictured is Sundance. Thanks for reading!
