As things are opening up and we are making our way to places (anywhere, really) where we can be horizontal and absorb some vitamin sea you’ll be living in your swimsuit. Clothing that keeps you covered on the way to and from the beach or pool is a necessity. Here are four ideas of what to wear with your swimsuit. Choose the vibe that suits your style or try them all!
Swimsuit Top (similar) | Swimsuit Bottom (Similar) | Gauze Pants | Chain Necklace | Pendant Necklace | Bracelets here here and here | Hat (similar) | Sandals
:: WEAR BEACHY PANTS
Easy breezy gauzy pants will elevate your beach look. These are a great option if you are headed to a ritzy resort. The pants will keep you protected from the sun while still keeping you cool. Mine are high waisted and keep the lower tummy section covered. These COVER UP PANTS from Abercrombie & Fitch are my favorite.
:: WEAR DENIM CUT-OFF SHORTS
On the other end of the spectrum, cut-off denim shorts over a swimsuit gives a laid back street style vibe. These are my go-to when I’m headed to or from the beach or pool.
:: WEAR A GAUZY CARDIGAN
When I’m headed into a restaurant I like to cover my midsection and reveal a little less. A longer length cardigan provides coverage when you need it and can remain unbuttoned otherwise. I’ve always liked the look of a longer length cardigan paired with a mini skirt or shorts. The juxtaposition of lengths is visually interesting and makes your legs look longer.
:: WEAR A CROCHETED COVER UP
You can’t go wrong with a pretty crocheted cover up. It will be appropriate in almost any poolside or beach setting. It offers coverage. I love that you can see the silhouette of the swimsuit underneath.
Which look is your favorite?

Love these—especially the pants! I have to wear a long-sleeved rash guard on top for sun protection and so most of my beach cover-ups are not working now. Would love to hear your thoughts on what to do (just pull on beach pants/shorts or skirts??).

This is a great question, Mary — I’m glad you asked. I love the long sleeve rash guard swimsuits. Do you have one? I love this one https://rstyle.me/+ZYnLQlT659JhTrUdsGL9dg and this one too though it is short sleeved https://rstyle.me/+NOqSSYvjARya_QWKSM01_g
As far as what to wear with rash guards and full coverage suits think of them as being similar to bodysuits (that snap underneath). Put the focus on the bottoms. The denim cut offs are perfect for a casual setting. The pants will work great too. You could also try wrapping a sarong around your waist. I would stick to a shorter length sarong if coverage is not an issue to balance out the heaviness of the long sleeve rash guard. I hope that helps!

Hi Theresa! Thanks for reading. I’m glad you like the post. I updated the post with my recommendations for denim cut off shorts. This pair is most similar to what I’m wearing. They are high waisted from blanknyc https://rstyle.me/+oMBnonEMr1QxJ6BKGSulkQ
