Since my post on concert/festival style I’ve heard from quite a few of you who are also into music. While I’ve been a music lover my whole life, my availability to attend concerts waned for a bit while my kids were younger. Now that they are older I’m happy to welcome back that part of my life. Because so many of you asked how I hear about concerts, I want to share my relatively recent discovery of the Bands In Town app. This is just what I have been waiting for! I can’t believe I only discovered it a few months ago.

I used to run into the problem of not knowing when bands I liked were going to be in town. The big shows at the big venues are promoted heavily and unless you have a ticket connection you are unlikely to actually get good seats at any of these venues without dropping a pretty penny. That’s why I’m such a big fan of smaller concert venues. I like to catch my favorite bands before they can fill big arenas. But, keeping up with the show schedule at smaller venues is not easy. I either had to flood my inbox with promotion emails from my favorite venues or remember to check their websites. And even then there was a chance a show could be added later and I would miss the update.
Enter the Bands In Town app which totally solved this problem for me. The app synchs to the music on my phone/media library, Spotify, etc. and alerts me when a band on my playlist or a band with a similar vibe schedules a concert in my area. I no longer hear after the fact that a band I love was just in town playing a smaller venue! Now I have a chance at getting tickets directly through the vendor (without paying the upcharges from resellers) because I’m alerted a few days before tickets go on sale. I can also connect to my concert buddies and let them know when I am interested in a show. Check out this app if you haven’t already. It’s already changing my life. It’s free on the Apple Store.
Here’s a quick list of concerts I’m looking forward to this season. Maybe I’ll see you at a show sometime soon?
