Neon colors typically become popular in the warmer part of the year because they feel fresh, summery, and fun but the fashion industry is turning that idea on its head and you’ll see neon everywhere this Fall/Winter. Embrace it. Neons were on the rise last winter and will be even more popular this winter.

Neon can be tricky to style. You probably don’t want to look like a walking highlighter (or juvenile) so try these tips for wearing neon shades appropriately.
- Dip Your Toe In. // Neon is definitely a “look at me” shade so if your wardrobe typically consists of black, grey, and camel in the winter it can be intimidating to work a neon shade in. If you are nervous, start small. A stripe of neon on a sneaker, small jewelry or a belt are ways you can work the trend into your current wardrobe.
- Go Neon + Neutral. // No one wants to be a walking highlighter so pair your neon pieces with neutrals like black, grey, or camo (yes, camo!). Denim is also an easy neutral that tones down a neon top.
- Color Block. // Two bright solid colors complement each other and work together rather than compete but a pattern outfit with a neon accessory can look a little busy.
While my camo pants in this outfit are a pattern, the colors are muted and do not compete against the bubblegum pink top, that’s why it works! As long as the rest of your outfit isn’t competing against the neon, it will look totally chic.
