Jumpsuits are a huge trend right now. I love that they are because it makes getting dressed really easy. Plus it makes it really easy to look dressed up for a special occasion and still be comfortable. But part of me hates this trend because it is so challenging to find a great fit for your body.

Before my trip to Paris I was on the hunt for a jumpsuit to take with me. I carefully selected ten jumpsuits from one of my favorite online retailers knowing that they would arrive just before my departure. I figured that I’d play the odds and at least one of them would work out .I could send the others back later. I tried on every single one, and you know what, not a single one fit. Not a single one!
Jumpsuit shopping is hard! I made a few revelations about jumpsuits from that experience:
- You have to have a very proportioned body to have success with a jumpsuit. So if you are a girl who shops bikini separates because you need different sizes on top and bottom then finding a good jumpsuit fit will likely be challenging;
- If you are average height (I’m about 5’6″) length can be a problem. A lot of jumpsuits are long and require tailoring or a really high heel to make it work;
- The tummy and hip girdle can sometimes look awkward in a jumpsuit. I found a jumpsuit I really loved. It fit great everywhere but was super tight through my hips and the fabric pulled in an unflattering way.. There were others that just hugged my midsection more tightly than I wanted.
I eventually lucked out and found a really great jumpsuit but it was a difficult process. I have a smaller waist and wider hips so wide leg style of jumpsuit was the most flattering for me. I tried on a lot of different jumpsuits before I found the one for me. So if you run into any of these issues, don’t get discouraged, and know that you are not alone!
