Girlfriends, I’m super excited to say this is my 100th blog post. I can’t believe how quickly we got here! Thanks so much for following along and reading. It really means a lot to me.
Since we are jumping straight into summer mode and yesterday we talked about straw bags as a way to quickly adapt your outfit to the change in season, let’s move on to another item I think you should add to your closet right away — a kimono. Kimonos are super popular this summer and they are the perfect accessory for warmer weather looks. You guys, they are so versatile too. You can wear it like a cardigan over a sundress, tank dress, jeans or shorts. Endless possibilities.
What I love about a kimono is that the thin (usually chiffon) fabric is flowy and sheer so it’s perfect for hot summer days and nights. It adds a colorful layer to an otherwise plain outfit.
And it’s so comfortable it feels like you’re wearing your coziest bathrobe. Actually, okay, let’s have a moment of honesty. I wasn’t so sure I could pull off a kimono at first. As I was wearing it around the house it immediately brought to mind memories of Mrs. Roper (from Three’s Company, anyone remember that show?). Let me just walk upstairs and see what “the kids” are up to.
I haven’t thought about her in a long time but I generally remember her as a mousy housewife wearing a muumuu. Not generally a look I’m trying to copy. I guess I’ve jumped on Mrs. Roper’s frequency because now I’m a kimono convert. I own a couple of kimonos and I’ll be wearing them all summer long! Come and knock on my door. . .
