Just yesterday a girlfriend asked me for advice on what to wear to an event in her hometown (which is a very casual place much like where I grew up). She wanted to be dressed up because it was a special occasion but she didn’t want to be overdressed considering the other guests would likely be wearing jeans. She also didn’t want to appear to be trying too hard. A dilemma we’ve all been in, right? It struck me as the type of occasion many of us will have on our radar this month: graduation parties, end of year celebrations, girls nights out — you name it!
I love a romper for these types of occasions. The beauty of a romper is that it is casual because it is, after all, just dressy shorts.. But because a romper shows a lot of leg while still being modest it gives the appearance of being kind of fancy. A romper is also chic and will keep you cool during a summer night on the town. It’s a great substitute for a dress especially if you would feel uncomfortable in a mini.
I bought this sapphire-colored romper last year and I have worn it to a number of occasions including my son’s elementary school graduation celebration. I loved how comfortable I felt wearing it but it was still very appropriate for a country club graduation party. I’ve included my favorite rompers in the widget below.
