Since we can’t show up to Thanksgiving dinner in our jammies but we know we want to eat until the button on our pants pops — here are a few suggestions on what to wear to hide your Thanksgiving food baby. Whether you are spending a quiet holiday at home with family, celebrating a friendsgiving, or dressing to impress — you’ll want to be comfortable yet stylish as you slip into your post-Thanksgiving food coma.
Casual Thanksgiving At Home
For the casual Thanksgiving at home you can optimize on comfort. Thankfully joggers and boyfriend jeans are super popular right now and can be stylish too. Pair an oversize sweater and boyfriend jeans with a metallic, velvet, or fur-embellished sneaker. Joggers are especially ideal if you will be partaking in a pre or post-meal turkey bowl. Try not to hurt yourself. You have a lot to accomplish in December.
Friendsgiving Celebration
When you’re celebrating Thanksgiving with your second family, you’ll want to take it up a notch from your casual look. Leggings are a great go-to (hello: elastic waistband). Pair your leggings with an oversize chunky sweater or a velvet or sparkly-loose top and throw a jacket on overtop. You’ll look like you actually made some effort and no one will know you’re just ready to eat half your weight in pecan pie.
Dressed To Impress
You can still be glam and gorge yourself at Thanksgiving. If you have no choice but to dress to impress, a loose-fitting dress fits the bill. A sweater dress, or better yet, a dress with a bold print is ideal for camouflaging the tell-tale belly bulge. You could even throw on a furry vest to add another dimension to your outfit. Pair the dress with over the knee boots or slouchy ankle boots.
We’ll be going home to Michigan next week to celebrate with my brother’s family. It’s been too long since we’ve been back. We’re hoping to fit in a turkey bowl and some visits with aunts, uncles, and cousins. One thing’s for sure, we’ll be cheering on the Lions on Thanksgiving Day. What are your Thanksgiving traditions?
