Many of us are gearing up for a big summer of travel to more exotic destinations than in the last couple of years. Choosing what to pack when traveling is always tricky. Choosing what to pack when you are traveling to a conservative country is even more so.
I have traveled to two Muslim countries — Turkey and Morocco — and packing for both trips took quite a bit of thought and advance planning. I always try to be respectful of the cultural norms and customs of any country I am visiting. For a primarily Islamic nation like Turkey or Morocco that means dressing modestly: wearing clothing that is not revealing, covering shoulders and arms, and wearing pants or skirts and dresses that cover the knees. On both of my trips I was in the company of a man at all times and I did not receive unwanted attention. I have heard many women complain that cat-calling and stares from men is a common experience –especially as a female traveler in Morocco. Though a certain amount of that may be unavoidable, one way to avoid drawing attention to yourself when traveling to a conservative country is by dressing modestly so here are some essentials you will want to pack.
Rancher Hat || Sandals || Denim Jacket || Chambray Shirt || Smocked Maxi Dress || Midi Dress || Denim || Flowy Pants || Jumpsuit || Maxi Skirt || Blouse
