TREND ALERT: Wide statement belts are trending in 2021. This is a trend that’s easy and inexpensive to jump on. There are a lot of great reasons to incorporate a belt into your outfit, here are just a few:
- It’s easy to cover your midsection behind a strategically placed belt
- It accentuates the waist and takes the bulk out of cardigans, blazers, and loose dresses
- It adds interest and breaks up a solid color outfit or color blocks separates
Tiered Dress (sold out) similar here and here || Raffia Belt
I chose to wear a belt with this dress to hide a seam at the waistline and to create more definition in the beautiful tiers of this mini dress. I really love this raffia belt from Express. Tiered dresses are trending this spring (read my post here in case you missed it) and raffia is a spring/summer texture that pairs well with a summer dress.
Adding accessories can be a little intimidating. I would wear a wide belt like mine with denim or pants with belt loops. It also works well with a dress, jumpsuit, or romper. If you have an outfit sitting in your closet with an attached belt that’s an obvious indicator that it’s okay to wear a belt and where to place it. Simply replace the attached belt with a wide statement belt.
