The bodysuit trend has made its way back around again. Many of us lived through this trend for the first time in the 90s. Whether or not you liked it the first time around, it’s back. While I loved a great bodysuit in the 90s, just as there were challenges with this trend then, twenty years and three kids later, challenges remain. It took a lot of tries but I learned something about how to wear a bodysuit again, ahem, later in life . . .
Oh, remember the good ‘ole college days when you had a little too much to drink and re-snapping your bodysuit after a trip to the bathroom was more than a little challenging? One girlfriend shared that by the fourth trip to the ladies room she recalls not even bothering to snap her bodysuit back into place and the back hung out like a tail. That might not be as much of an issue these days . . . or not. I’m not judging.
For a lot of us (okay, for like 99.9% of the population) after having multiple babies our belly region just isn’t as flat as it used to be. And no amount of planks and crunches is going to change that! So there are a few tips to camouflage this problem.
- Pair a bodysuit with a high waist bottom to draw attention away from the belly. High waist jeans, maxi skirts, and wide leg pants are all great options.
- Try to choose a bodysuit with in a billowy style to camouflage the tummy area or choose a traditional style with stripes, ruffles, or lace-up detail to draw the eye up and away from the belly region.
- Stay away from white or light colors. Lighter colors draw in the light and highlight all the wrong places. You’ve heard this before, but it’s worth saying again, navy and black are more slimming and any undesirables won’t peek through as much.
So what do you think? Would you try and rock the bodysuit trend again this time around . . . or is it time to take a pass? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
